Responsibilities

  • Help the Project Managers and Project Superintendent as requested to assist in overall project administration and coordination
  • Acquire good working knowledge of computer systems and all programs used by the company.
  • Be available to work on weekends when the job requires weekend activity
  • Take and store jobsite photos and videos as requested by the Superintendent
  • Coordinate receiving materials and equipment for the project.  Ensure that shipping tickets are accurate and verified.  Inspect materials to ensure that they were manufactured in conformance with shop drawings, are in good condition and are in the correct quantity
  • Develop a thorough understanding of jobsite computers and communication systems and provide related assistance to the
  • Superintendent as requested
  • Provide quality control inspections and services as requested by the Superintendent
  • Observe construction methods and practices to acquire an overall understanding of the project approach and progress
  • Handle the documenting, maintaining, and forwarding of time sheets as requested by the Superintendent
  • Aid the Superintendent with daily logs as requested
  • Coordinate and document field testing activities
  • Develop construction insight to be able to discuss issues with the Superintendent and look ahead to see problems or conflicts that will adversely affect production or the quality of the project
  • Demonstrate a good understanding of the company safety program to ensure that a safe jobsite is maintained
  • Help facilitate weekly safety meetings, job site and subcontract orientations and necessary documentation
  • Assist in maintaining the Safety Data Sheet Library
  • Coordinate Accident/Incident reporting, equipment damage reports and other reports as assigned
  • Review and understand the project schedule.  Develop an awareness of what tasks and activities are scheduled in the upcoming days, weeks, and months.  Review material resources to ensure they are availability

Qualifications

  • Effective written and oral communication
  • Proficient in MS Office
  • AutoCAD
  • Experience in industrial construction preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent project management experience
  • Valid driver’s license

  • Performs various physical duties as assigned.
  • Maintain all safety standards.
  • Moves, secures, installs, builds, loads, or unloads materials.
  • Performs some specialized tasks which may require on-the job training.
  • Effectively using heavy and light equipment, depending on the jobsite/assignment.
  • Moves items from place to place, according to direction from the site supervisor.
  • Moving tools, equipment, or other material as directed in plans or by supervisor.

Job Summary

Manage the day-to-day operations of construction projects. Deliver a high quality of service in all dealings with customers, subcontractors, and company employees involved in performing construction services.

Description of Skills

  • Possesses profitable management skills to take assigned projects from budget and scheduling stage to final punch list and completion, to include all design coordination, purchasing and field production

  • Can set expectations and provide project updates (daily narrative) to customers and subcontractors

Job Responsibilities

  • Possess a good working knowledge of standard contract language used in the construction industry
  • Become familiar with all aspects of the plans, technical specifications, and contract language for assigned projects
  • Schedule all subcontractors and material suppliers
  • Expand & use the projects schedule and incorporate the labor budget, procurement leads and contract dates
  • Maintain the electronic filing system in accordance with standard company procedure for assigned projects
  • Work with the Purchasing Department to ensure purchase orders or subcontracts are issued in a timely manner to protect quoted pricing and to ensure timely delivery of materials, equipment or services and that crews are available to meet the project schedule
  • Ensure timely completion of a thorough shop drawing submittal log including the applicable plan sheet, specification, location, etc.
  • Perform a detailed review of all shop drawings submittals to ensure compliance with the plans and technical specifications and provide overall management of the shop drawing submittal process
  • Ensure that the appearance and condition of the site presents a favorable image to the client and public
  • Assist the Project Superintendent in coordination of the foreman and craft workers for reassignments to and from assigned projects
  • Check daily work orders to ensure proper cost code, worker classifications and to ensure compliance with applicable overtime and holiday requirements
  • Assign the applicable job costs accounts and approve AP invoices for payment
  • Arrange for timely delivery and return of required rental equipment
  • Process change-orders to include the associated budget changes
  • Update the monthly job status report for submittal to the controller
  • Ensure timely processing of progress payment requests, including stored material invoicing
  • Coordinate with subcontractors to ensure progress is consistent with the schedule
  • Maintain a professional working relationship with the owner, engineer, subcontractors, and suppliers
  • Implement the standard Project Management Procedures adopted by the company for all assigned projects.

The Purchasing Agent will be an important addition to the Estimating team and Estimating Department Manager, so qualified skills are a requirement for this position.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Partner with Project Managers and field crews to plan and purchase materials, supplies and services that align with project requirements and specifications.
  • Monitor new projects for procurement requirements to reduce emergency needs.
  • Seek quotes on prices and availability of materials from a variety of suppliers.
  • Source local suppliers as necessary and develop a supply base that will match our company strategies for capacity, quality, and delivery.
  • Maintain a master vendor/subcontractor list.
  • Issue purchase orders and subcontracts as projects require.
  • Maintain an accurate monitoring system for procurements and relay to Project Mangers.
  • Verify materials and supplies are delivered in a timely manner and meets the project’s schedule.
  • Facilitate the resolution of material and/or logistics issues with vendors.
  • Manage vendor relationships with focus on cost savings and enhancing purchasing power through negotiating vendor discounts.
  • Assist with developing and enhancing procurement policies and procedures.
  • Assist with sending and organizing shop drawings, submittals and RFIs.
  • Assist the estimating department with potential vendors when needed.
  • Work with accounting department to reconcile discrepancies between purchase orders and invoices.
