SEPTEMBER RECAP

Curry Cares: September Recap

At Curry Construction, giving back to our communities is part of who we are. Through the Curry Cares Community Stewardship Initiative, we’re proud to support organizations that strengthen families, provide opportunities, and create brighter futures across Central Illinois. Let’s take a look at the past month’s engagement, and what’s coming up in October!

On September 20, we sponsored the Sullivan Sons of the American Legion 8th Annual Golf Outing, an event dedicated to raising funds for veteran organizations. This year’s proceeds benefited USO Great Lakes, whose mission is to strengthen the well-being of service members and their families. With over 250 centers worldwide, the USO provides essential programs and support for deployed service members, military families, transitioning troops, and those who are wounded, ill, or injured.

Josh Harner was integral in helping organize this event. Both Josh and Austin Ashworth, also participated in the outing, unofficially representing Curry Construction. We are honored to support local organizations like the Sullivan Sons of the American Legion, who in turn support those who serve our country.

On September 25, Curry Construction proudly sponsored Coles County Habitat’s Habitaste event for the fifth consecutive year. This annual fundraiser benefits Habitat for Humanity’s mission to provide safe, affordable housing for families in need right here in our community. We’re honored to continue partnering with Habitat in building stronger foundations—both in homes and in lives.

Representing Curry Construction at the event were Amber Seip, Amy Morris, Krissy Dupree, Lindsey Vandermeer, Madison Stoltz, and Michelle Niebrugge.

Curry Construction also sponsored the Charleston High School ClassE 9th Annual Golf Outing. ClassE is a unique entrepreneurial development program designed for Coles County juniors and seniors. Students selected for the year-long, dual-credit class learn firsthand what it takes to start and run a business through mentorship, tours, and collaboration with over 80 local business leaders. By encouraging innovation and leadership at an early age, ClassE helps create a pipeline of future business owners, job creators, and community leaders who will carry Coles County forward.

Our Curry Cares efforts continue into October as we are once again, along with NAC Industries and HLC Fabrication, participating in Celebrate Downtown Mattoon: Trunk or Treat on Friday, October 24 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Broadway Ave in Downtown Mattoon.

This family-friendly event brings the community together for safe, festive Halloween fun—and we’re excited to be part of it. Our theme this year is Construction Under the Sea!

We are looking for volunteers to help represent Curry Construction and assist at the event. This is a great opportunity to network with fellow employees and connect with the community, showcase our company spirit, and have fun while giving back! Curry Construction is also proud to help sponsor the Honor Flight Fundraiser to be held on Sunday, October 26 at the Effingham VFW (2304 S Veterans Dr, Effingham, IL 62401) beginning at 11:00 AM. The Honor Flight program provides veterans the opportunity to visit memorials in Washington, D.C, as a way of recognizing their service and sacrifice.

The day will include live music by Benny & The Amigos, London Country Band, The Hip Huggers, and Max Heuerman & the Little Truckers. Guest can enjoy pulled pork, sloppy joes, potato salad, baked bens, cole slaw, hot dogs, and chips. Attendees can also enjoy raffles and a bake sale—all while helping to honor and support our nation’s veterans.

For more information, or to learn how you can assist with the event, please reach out to Larry Manuel, who is helping organize this year’s fundraiser.

At Curry Construction, we believe that building strong communities is just as important as building strong projects. We look forward to continuing our partnerships and giving back in meaningful ways.
